The Group Leader is responsible for supporting the Life Skill Coach towards maintaining a therapeutic and growth-oriented environment for the Individuals served. While continuing to directly support the Individuals with their programmatic goals, as well as providing engaging activities, the Group Leader will be responsible for ensuring that the programming schedule can be effectively delivered, and will be the main conduit between the program rooms they oversee and the Case Coordination Dept.

ESSENTIAL PROGRAM DUTIES (other duties may be assigned):

Act as a role model by displaying proper and safe dress, language, safe work practices and a positive work attitude.

Support individuals in: work attitude, skills, personal care, socialization, behavioral skills, self-advocacy, following daily

schedules and other areas as needed.

Participate with the Program Director in the design of dynamic and engaging curriculum that meets the needs of the

Individuals served. In conjunction with the Life Skill Coach, implement the curriculum in a positive and enthusiastic manner

in both individual and group activities while in the community and program settings.

Work as part of an Inter-disciplinary team to develop individualized, meaningful goals for the Individuals served, always

with an eye on increasing independence. Participate in outlining effective teaching methods and assist in training Life Skill

Coaches on these strategies. Maintain a stable and consistent learning environment geared towards the growth of all

Individuals served.

Work with the Life Skill Coach and Individuals served to develop a dynamic and engaging schedule of activities that

provides flexibility and opportunity for the Individuals served. Manage the schedule to ensure that all supplies are available

for all activities outlined. Work with the Program Director to identify new opportunities for community activities, always

focused on opportunities that are of interest to the Individuals, and those that expose them to new experiences.

Follow community safety guidelines in regards to providing individual oversight and safe transportation in all settings. Drive

company vehicles including large passenger vans using Charles river policies as well as state laws, i.e. use of cell phones

prohibited when driving, etc.

Work with Case Coordinators to ensure all relevant Needs Assessments are conducted. Work with Life Skill Coaches and

Program Directors to ensure activities, both within the Program and out in the community, are in line with person centered

planning.

Work along side the Life Skill Coach to assist individuals with ISP Goals & Objectives, ensuring that all data relative to

these goals is accurately documented. Review data sheets regularly to ensure that data is being taken consistently and

accurately. Work with Case Coordinators to follow-up on any questions related to the data.

Work with Clinical Dir. and Registered Behavior Therapist to ensure Behavior Plans are being followed accurately and

consistently, and that all data is being tracked accurately and consistently. Represent the program rooms during clinical

discussions to provide feedback to the Clinical team and Program Director relative to the implementation of Behavior Plans.

Monitor individuals at lunch, breaks and cab duty and during transportation.

Maintain trainings and adhere to company policies and procedures. Be responsible for company property.

Work with individuals and staff to ensure that shared spaces are organized, efficient & safe. Keep aisles and means of egress

clean and accessible and report unsafe situations. Maintain a clean and organized environment within the program, off-sites

& the vans. Perform light housekeeping and maintenance as required.

Work with other staff & management to ensure the Health & Safety of all individuals. Notify manager of health and safety

concerns and facility issues immediately.

Demonstrates Positive Behavioral Support Practices throughout all programming

Crisis intervention including: consistently carrying out positive behavior plans; intervening in crisis situations; proper

implementation of Behavior Management, Emergency Restraint interventions, accurate & timely completion of incident

reports & other related paperwork.

Have thorough knowledge of and always uphold Human Rights Policies

Complete all required documentation daily/weekly, etc in a timely fashion; individual timesheets, attendance, cab duty forms, fire drill forms, ISP data sheets, positive behavior plan data collection, community/curriculum forms, and other various forms needed for safety and maintaining individuals records, etc.

Have thorough knowledge of and become efficient in using computer software programs: to include, but not limited to Epay,

Icentrix, and ETS. Utilize Epay appropriately for documenting work time as well as time off requests.

Management: Supports and enforces agency policies and objectives; sets example through personal conduct and performance.

QUALIFICATIONS:

· High School Diploma required

· Experience in the Human Services field preferred.

· Successful completion of all state and agency mandated trainings.

· Knowledge and use of principle of Normalization and Community Inclusion.

· Must be willing to authorize a Criminal History Background Check (CORI) and release information concerning allegations from Disabled Persons Protection Commission (DPPC), Department of Disability Services (DDS), and other agencies.

· Must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable members with disabilities to perform these essential functions.

· Driver’s License that is valid in Massachusetts and reliable personal transportation.

· Proficient computer skills in Microsoft applications and software programs used by the program: ETS, Icentrix, and Epay.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Must be fluent in English and have the ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write advanced reports and correspondence. Ability to communication effectively with members served in their primary mode of communication, members under supervision, employees of the organization, families and members of the community. Ability to effectively present information individually and in small groups.

Employee must be able to lift up to 30 pounds from floor to waist and 10-15 pounds from waist to overhead.
